For reals. (In Oregon for reals, not dysentery for reals. And FYI I made it to the Willamette Valley safely despite my illness. At the very last minute, though, we hit a rock and lost 7 oxen, 4 bullets, and my friend Ellaree.)
ah, the trail. I remember when we crossed it. I was so glad to get over those mountains before winter so I didn't have to eat my relatives to survive. Those who didn't get over- They never should have listened to that tour guide, he was a real con man!
Oregon is my home! Welcome! Please feel free to sprinkle your sass all around. I hope you're in Portland (it's the best part of OR in my opinion) Have a safe trip!
OMG! The Oregon Trail game! My husband is obsessed with it.
If you are looking for an anonymous tip for WV delights (and are somewhat near Salem): go to the Cafe 22 fruit stand (not the actual restaurant) and order a fresh fruit milk shake. Then lay yourself down and die. Because that is how f*cking delicious those milkshakes are.
Yeah, but did you ford the rivers?!!! Going around them can cost much time and of course you risk running into those unpredictable natives. I say ford them all; tis the only way!
OMG I LOVED that game!! That and Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego. I can still identify pretty much every nation's flag. Except for those Slavic countries that are constantly changing and forming new countries.

I don't think I ever completed the trail. Probably because I always shot 1500 pounds more meat than I could carry. How was this educational again.
I totally forgot how awesome that game was. I wonder if it's possible to find it online or something.
ReplyDeleteHave fun on your trip!
